Timbuktu-Foreign Film with Sub-Titles

This film is very disturbing!  Jihadists, led by their chief, Abdelkrim (Abel Jafri), have taken over Tibuktu and its surrounding villages.  They brandish weapons and bully the locals by forbidding music, making women wear gloves, etc. When they are caught violating these ridiculous rules, they are whipped! A cattle rancher, Kidane (Ibrahim Ahmed), lives with his wife, Satima (Toulou Kiki), in a tent outside the city with their daughter.  Abdelkrim fancies Satima and visits her when Kadane is away. I don't want to say much more or I will spoil the movie, but, suffice it to say, the Cinematography is beautiful.  The pace is leisurely, but that works -- life's pace is slow in the desert.  The people live there much like they did 100 years ago, except for the cellphones. The Director (Abderrahmane Sissako) has created a complex film, even portraying the jihadists with slivers of humanity.  It's a movie that will haunt you for days. Rating-7.5 - good movie, worth a trip to the BS, but no fun Dave
